Twins Prepare for Offseason Roster Shakeup
The Twins enter the offseason with room to reshape their 40-man roster: four players are pending free agents, several others could be non-tendered or traded, and the club must also protect eligible prospects from the Rule 5 draft. One proposed addition is veteran first baseman and designated hitter Paul Goldschmidt, whose strong numbers against left-handed pitching could make him a platoon partner for Minnesota’s young, left-handed hitters while adding experience to the clubhouse. The team’s bullpen needs are also in focus after Trevor Megill, whom Minnesota traded away in 2023 for Taylor Floyd, developed into a key Brewers reliever and is now headed to the World Series. Other offseason discussion includes Brooks Lee’s Gold Glove finalist status, Ryan Jeffers’ future, a proposed trade for pitcher Logan Gilbert and the search for a new pitching coach.
