Two Greek Pilots Killed in Tanagra Air-Show Crash
Two Greek Air Force pilots were killed when a two-seat F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed during a low-altitude maneuver at the Athens Flying Week air show near Tanagra Air Base, north of Athens. The aircraft went down about two kilometers from the runway shortly after beginning its display, erupting into a fire and sending smoke into a nearby forest. No spectators or local residents were reported injured, but authorities urged people to evacuate the area and deployed firefighters, water-dropping aircraft and helicopters. The remaining air-show events were canceled, and the crash’s cause is under investigation.
