Two Iowa Shooting Suspects Face Attempted-Murder Charges
A West Des Moines man, Andrew Tanaka, faces four counts of attempted murder after authorities say he fired at vehicles on Interstate 35 in Warren County, wounded a driver, and crashed into another vehicle; he also faces an intimidation charge and is held on $1 million bond. A second shooting in downtown Des Moines led to the arrest of 18-year-old Jayshawn Woods Crawford, who is charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 23-year-old man near Court Avenue. Police say the victim was shot multiple times and remains hospitalized; investigators allege surveillance footage and GPS data placed Crawford at the scene, and that he admitted to shooting the victim.
