Two Men Held After Fatal Houston Shooting
Two men were arrested after a downtown Columbia shooting around 2:30 a.m. Saturday that left a 36-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries; police later reported she was in stable condition. The arrests followed gunfire near Eighth and Walnut Streets, and the men face suspected weapons, drug and armed-criminal-action offenses. Separately, two people were shot, one fatally, at a northwest Houston apartment complex Saturday night; authorities had released few details about what led to the shooting. In a separate north Houston case Thursday night, a driver was shot while sitting in his vehicle, crashed into a tree and died at the scene. Police took two men into custody after investigating surveillance footage and establishing a perimeter around an apartment; a woman and child were safely brought out, and homicide investigators are handling the case.
