Judge restores team after eligibility disputes disrupt high school playoffs
Several high school football playoff brackets have been disrupted by forfeits and eligibility disputes. In Tennessee, winless Red Boiling Springs forfeited its opening-round game against South Pittsburg, ending its season and sending South Pittsburg through without playing. In Ohio, a judge ruled that Glenville could compete in the playoffs after the state association removed it over alleged residency-related eligibility violations, leaving the association to determine how to handle the bracket and a game the University School did not play. In a separate Ohio case, Liberty was disqualified after an ineligible player allegedly entered its playoff win by swapping jerseys, restoring Canton Central Catholic to the postseason. In Alabama, winless St. John Paul II forfeited its game against unbeaten Briarwood Christian, citing player health and safety and a lack of available players.
