U.S. Jobs Shift Toward Trades, Healthcare, Tech
Americans are reassessing career paths as AI concerns, shifting workforce needs and regional investment reshape job markets. A survey of business owners who left white-collar careers found that AI fears contributed to many decisions, though workers also sought greater independence; many reported higher incomes after moving into skilled trades, despite startup and licensing hurdles. In Wisconsin, health care and social assistance employment has overtaken manufacturing as the state’s largest sector, driven partly by an aging population, although manufacturing remains a major economic force and continues to anchor some regions. Arizona is seeing strong hiring demand in health care, technology, advanced manufacturing and logistics, while Ozark-area employers are advertising manufacturing roles ranging from entry-level production work to engineering and plant leadership. Regional training programs and career education can help workers prepare for these opportunities.
