U.S. Soybean Export Sales Hit 2.84 Million Tons
Soybean futures rebounded as USDA data showed 2.84 million metric tons of U.S. export sales for the 2026/27 marketing year in the week ended Oct. 15, up sharply from the prior week, with China accounting for most of the purchases. A separate USDA announcement confirmed another 202,000-ton sale to China, while shipments also climbed. The rally came despite pressure from the advancing U.S. harvest and expectations for a large crop, and soybeans remained on track for a weekly loss in some market reports. Corn export sales also rose, but corn futures weakened amid harvest pressure and sales commitments trailing the USDA’s projected pace. Wheat sales fell short of expectations, and wheat futures were mostly lower amid export weakness and uncertainty over Black Sea supply and possible peace talks.
