U.S. Takes 3-2 Presidents Cup Lead

The United States took a 3-2 lead over the International team after the opening four-ball session of the Presidents Cup at Medinah, continuing its bid for an 11th consecutive title. Justin Thomas and rookie Jackson Koivun won 4 and 3, extending Thomas’ unbeaten four-ball record to 7-0, while Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa also secured a U.S. point. Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns earned a narrow 1-up win over Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im after the Internationals rallied and briefly took the lead. Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune won for the International team, as did Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim, keeping the contest close heading into the next day.
