U2 to Receive MusiCares 2027 Honor on Band's 50th Anniversary

U2 will receive MusiCares’ 2027 Persons of the Year honor as the Irish rock band marks its 50th anniversary. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. will be celebrated at a benefit gala scheduled for Feb. 5, 2027, at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, with a tribute concert that will be opened to fans for the first time. The honor recognizes the band’s music as well as decades of humanitarian work, including Bono’s AIDS and poverty campaigns through ONE and (RED), The Edge’s Music Rising initiative, and U2’s support for music education and other charitable causes. Bono previously received the award individually in 2003, but this will be the first time MusiCares recognizes the group collectively.
