UCLA routs Cal 45-24 as Iamaleava's leg injury raises questions

UCLA defeated California 45-24 in Berkeley behind three rushing touchdowns from Wayne Knight, 118 rushing yards and two scores from Anthony Woods, and two fourth-quarter interceptions by Ta’Shawn James. Quarterback Nico Iamaleava left late in the fourth quarter after a 10-yard scramble, fumble and tackle that caused a painful leg injury, with his younger brother Madden briefly replacing him. UCLA coach Bob Chesney said Iamaleava’s calf was cleated and cramped rather than seriously injured, and indicated that the quarterback should be available for the Bruins’ next game against San Diego State. Iamaleava finished 14-of-22 for 184 yards and a touchdown on the ground before leaving.
