UFL Plans Four-Market Expansion Through 2028

The United Football League will add four markets over the next two seasons, with Colorado and Rhode Island beginning play in 2027 and Utah and Oklahoma joining in 2028 as the league grows to 10 teams. The new franchises will play at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, America First Field in Sandy, Utah, and a new multipurpose stadium in Oklahoma City. The expansion follows the league’s decision to leave Birmingham and Houston after the 2026 season, while Utah is being added as a new market rather than replacing a discontinued team. UFL co-owner Mike Repole said the league’s expansion strategy centers on finding the right combination of market, fan base and venue, citing New England’s appeal and Rhode Island’s new 10,000-seat stadium. The league said its 2026 season produced record offensive activity, increased viewership and ticket sales, and a sold-out championship game won by Louisville.
