UK, France Conduct First Joint Nuclear Strike Simulation
Britain and France conducted their first joint exercise involving France’s airborne nuclear deterrent, with RAF Typhoon jets flying alongside French Rafale aircraft over the Mediterranean in the Rummy drill. The Rafales simulated a nuclear strike; no nuclear weapons were used. French officials said the exercise was intended to improve coordination between the two countries, while emphasizing that their nuclear forces remain independent. The drill reflects deepening nuclear cooperation amid broader concerns about European security.
