UMass reaches 3-0 for first time since joining FBS after 36-14 win

UMass defeated Stonehill 36-14 on Saturday to improve to 3-0, its best start since 2007 and its first 3-0 record since joining the FBS in 2011. The Minutemen led 13-7 at halfetime before scoring 33 consecutive points. The defense forced three Stonehill turnovers that produced 13 points. T.Y. Harding scored on a 56-yard reverse and a 51-yard touchdown reception and finished with 129 total yards. William "Pop" Watson III passed for 160 yards on 15-for-25 throwing with one touchdown and one interception, added a 1-yard rushing touchdown, and threw for 119 yards after halfetime. Derek Morris made kicks from 30, 55 and 33 yards. Coach Joe Harasymiak said the team was happy with the result but not with how it got there at times and responded to a halfetime storm. Harding cited the team's connection and desire to play for each other. Tyler Martin said he and Harding had never been 3-0 at UMass and called it exciting. UMass next turns to the start of Mid-American Conference play.
