UN Commission Alleges Gaza Genocide Despite Ceasefire
A U.N. commission of inquiry says Israel continued to commit genocidal acts in Gaza despite the ceasefire that began in October 2025, and accused Israeli forces and authorities of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The commission says Israel’s area of military control in Gaza expanded from 53% to at least 60% after the ceasefire began, and that Israeli fire near the advancing front killed at least 196 Palestinians during that period. In the West Bank, it cited alleged extermination, persecution, torture, rape and other sexual violence, including abuse of Palestinian detainees, and said military operations and settler violence formed a widespread, systematic attack on civilians. The findings are based on the commission’s investigation and could inform legal proceedings; Israel denies the allegations, and its mission in Geneva rejected the report as misinformation.
