UNC rallies from 15-point deficit to win in overtime over Charlotte
North Carolina escaped its preseason finale with an 89-82 overtime win over Charlotte after falling behind by as many as 15 points and trailing by six late in regulation. A technical foul after a Charlotte timeout gave UNC a chance to tie the game at the free-throw line, and the Tar Heels then outscored the 49ers 19-6 across the end of regulation and overtime. Transfer guard Terrence Brown led UNC with 27 points, while Jarin Stevenson’s overtime 3-pointer helped put the Tar Heels ahead for good. The narrow win exposed concerns for Michael Malone’s team, including cold shooting, turnovers, struggles at the free-throw line and Charlotte’s advantage on the offensive glass.
