Unconventional AI Agrees to Acquire NeuReality

Unconventional AI has agreed to acquire Israeli AI-chip developer NeuReality in an undisclosed cash-and-stock deal, adding about 40 engineers with experience building and deploying production AI chips. The acquisition is intended to help the $4.5 billion startup move from experimental designs toward products by bringing in expertise in chip systems, networking and software; Unconventional says its research has advanced faster than expected, with a first test chip completed and a second nearing completion. The company is pursuing a goal of making AI computing dramatically more energy-efficient, including a stated target of 1,000 times the efficiency of conventional designs, but that ambition has not yet been demonstrated. NeuReality’s work focuses on inference infrastructure that coordinates AI workloads and accelerators, and the companies did not disclose a product delivery date.
