UNI President Mark Nook to retire after 2026-27 academic year

University of Northern Iowa President Mark Nook plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2026–27 academic year, after leading the university since February 2017. He will remain in the role until his successor begins, and said serving UNI and the people of Iowa has been a privilege. The announcement followed UNI’s 150th-anniversary celebrations and a fundraising campaign that brought in more than $342 million; the Iowa Board of Regents will conduct the search for the next president.
