Universities Earn Top Veteran-School Honors
Arkansas State University was named a top school for military veterans by U.S. Veterans Magazine, with the university’s Beck Center for Veterans cited as part of its support for veteran and military-connected students. Launched with funding from alumni Buddy and Charlotte Beck, the center helps students navigate education benefits and campus resources; more than 1,000 veterans have earned degrees since it was established nearly two decades ago. Veteran graduate student and center employee Johnathon A. Mullins said the recognition could make more students aware of the center and its services, and described university leaders as willing to help resolve student problems. Separately, Texas State University was recognized as a Top Veteran School for 2026; the magazine says its assessment considers institutions’ commitment and programs, with qualifying resources including veteran centers, student organizations, VA benefits certifying officials, military-training credit and veteran-focused career services.
