Unsigned Red Wings Defenseman Skates in Nashville

Unsigned Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson was seen skating in Red Wings gear at a Nashville rink used by the Predators, as he remains a restricted free agent without a contract. He must sign by Dec. 1 to be eligible to play in the NHL this season, while Detroit’s interim general manager has described negotiations as unchanged and said the team wants to sign him rather than trade him. Nashville has been linked to trade interest in Edvinsson, but the Predators characterized his rink time as a private ice rental and declined to comment on another team’s player; his agent also has offices in Nashville. No trade or contract agreement has been announced.
