UPS overhauls executive ranks as it shifts away from Amazon volume

UPS is realigning its leadership and operating model as it pivots from primarily parcel delivery to broader global logistics, aiming for greater consistency, agility, and scale. Longtime executive Kate Gutmann, who leads International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions, will retire on September 1, 2026 after nearly 37 years, with plans to remain as a strategic adviser through March 2027. Wilfredo Ramos will lead International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions; Nando Cesarone becomes Chief Global Operations Officer; Matt Guffey assumes Chief U.S. Domestic Officer, with Bala Subramanian continuing as Chief Digital and Technology Officer, and the company has introduced an expanded executive structure to cover key commercial and operational areas. The leadership reshuffle aligns with UPS’s strategy to reduce lower-margin Amazon volumes and expand higher-margin services, supported by a move toward standardized global processes while maintaining local market responsiveness under CEO Carol Tomé’s direction. The changes also accompany UPS’s ongoing Network of the Future initiatives and a broader global network reconfiguration intended to improve efficiency and customer experience. UPS also disclosed retention RSU awards for Cesarone and Subramanian as part of the leadership transition.
