UPS plans 100,000 seasonal hires amid permanent job cuts
UPS plans to hire 100,000 seasonal workers nationwide to sort, move and deliver packages during the 2026 holiday rush, with some temporary roles potentially leading to permanent jobs. The target is 9% below last year’s, as UPS expands automation and streamlines its distribution network. The seasonal hiring comes amid a broader plan to cut up to 30,000 operational positions and reduce lower-margin package volume from Amazon. UPS is also introducing a PIN-protected delivery option for some important shipments.
