Upstate Suppliers Plan $82M, 200 New Jobs
Seven Upstate South Carolina manufacturers will invest a combined $82 million and add 200 jobs to supply Scout Motors’ electric truck and SUV plant under construction in Blythewood. The suppliers are Spartanburg Steel, Cooper Standard, KV Final, Röchling Automotive, Magna Mirrors, Bant Boru and Magna DRIVE; Spartanburg Steel plans the largest expansion, with a $40 million investment and 60 jobs. They will make components including glass-sealing systems and wheel and brake parts, expanding a regional automotive supply chain that already serves manufacturers such as BMW. Scout, a Volkswagen subsidiary, is building a $2 billion facility and expects customer deliveries to begin in 2028, with plans for annual production of up to 200,000 vehicles and about 4,000 direct jobs.
