Contractor charged with sharing classified reports with romantic partner
Federal authorities arrested government contractor Ian Brinksman, 42, and charged him with unlawfully transmitting national defense information. Prosecutors allege that he used his top-secret clearance to access classified reports beyond his duties and shared them with a romantic partner who intended to publish the material online. Investigators cite records of database access, communications and other activity, along with published articles that allegedly contained content similar to reports Brinksman accessed. News reports have identified the partner as Substack writer Aida Chávez, but the Justice Department has not publicly named her; the allegations have not been proven in court.
