US Man Jailed After 10-Year UK Stalking

Robert Beckman, 31, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to stalking a man in the UK for about a decade. His repeated unwanted contact included online messages, letters and comments on the victim’s social media, and he flew from Boston to Gatwick intending to meet him. Beckman had previously received a police caution for harassing the same victim but continued contacting him despite warnings. The court also imposed a 10-year restraining order and barred him from entering the UK; police said the victim’s daily life, work and family life were significantly affected.
