Three new medical scholarships target underserved communities and primary care
Three new medical scholarship opportunities announced Oct. 19 aim to support future physicians and healthcare professionals. The Sheila Busheri scholarship invites undergraduate students pursuing medicine and medical students to propose ways to improve access and innovation for underserved communities, while the Dr. Sergio Sokol scholarship supports students preparing for careers as physicians and emphasizes compassionate care and service. The Dr. Mark Armitage award is a one-time scholarship for U.S. medical students committed to primary care, preventive medicine and patient-centered approaches. Separately, Saginaw Promise’s upcoming luncheon will highlight its scholarship outcomes and feature university leaders discussing expanded medical and health-professions education in Saginaw.
