UK Library Shifts to Community Partnership as US Sites Reopen
Harold Wood Library in Havering is set to return to public use under a community-led partnership with the Harold Wood Foundation, which plans a hub offering library services, learning, youth activities and wellbeing support. The foundation’s funding model combines grants, sponsorship, memberships and community fundraising, while the arrangement is intended to reduce the council’s ongoing costs. In Oldham, Royton Library’s book-lending service is moving temporarily to Downey House while flooring investigations and repairs are completed at its regular site; a full reopening date has not been announced. Sebastopol Library is awaiting environmental test results as it works with the city on next steps, and patrons’ loan return dates are being extended during the temporary closure. Fruitville Library in Sarasota County has reopened after renovations, restoring regular services and access to its collection while construction continues on additional spaces and a neighboring History Center.
