Utah Firefighter Dies in 700-Foot BASE Jump

Gabe Reilly, a 27-year-old Salt Lake City firefighter, died during a BASE jump in northern Utah after his wingsuit failed to generate enough lift, authorities said. Reilly struck the ground at high speed near Millville Canyon, a popular but hazardous jumping area; he was part of a group and was described by officials as experienced. He had served with the Salt Lake City Fire Department for four years, following his father, who retired from the department in 2024. The death follows two fatal BASE-jumping accidents in Utah earlier in the year.
