UTC Plans Blood Drive Amid Critical Shortage
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will hold its annual Bloodanooga drive Oct. 21–22 amid a critical shortage at Blood Assurance, with less than a day’s supply of O-negative blood remaining as donations decline and hospital demand rises. The drive runs 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days in the Tennessee Room at the University Center, and walk-ins are welcome. Donors will receive a themed T-shirt, with a $25 e-gift card available to those donating platelets, double red cells, AB plasma or O-negative whole blood; donations also count for two hours toward UTC’s service goal. Eligible donors must be at least 17 (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health.
