UVA Health buys 55-acre site for outpatient expansion
UVA Health has acquired the former State Farm operations center in Pantops, Albemarle County, for $37.7 million and plans to convert the 55-acre, 365,000-square-foot property into an outpatient care center, with a target opening in 2028. The site’s accessible location and 1,200 parking spaces are expected to help meet growing demand while shifting outpatient services away from the main hospital. UVA Health projects Charlottesville-area outpatient visits will reach 1.2 million annually by 2035, about 300,000 more than today; it will determine which services to move and what renovations are needed over the next six months. The move complements separate hospital projects expected to add 137 inpatient beds over the next three years.
