UW Health plans $140M East Madison expansion
UW Health will open a $140 million, 120,000-square-foot expansion at East Madison Hospital on Nov. 2, adding six operating rooms, more surgical prep and recovery bays, and 14 inpatient beds. The hospital has hired about 250 employees for the expanded space, which is expected to enable roughly 30% more surgeries and accommodate about 6% more inpatient admissions. The expansion responds to rising demand as the region grows and adds specialized gynecology, gynecologic oncology, ophthalmology and urology services, with the goal of improving access and reducing wait times. New patient rooms also include video technology for remote nursing observation, communication with care teams and virtual visits.
