Vehicles Strike Pedestrians Across Three Cities
A pedestrian was struck while crossing Coffee Road at Floyd Avenue in Modesto on Sunday and taken to a hospital; law enforcement said the person was in stable condition. The intersection was closed as officers investigated. The crash occurred just over a week after two teenage girls were struck near Downey High School on Coffee Road and later died. Nearby residents have cited poor lighting, speeding traffic and a lack of pedestrian protections, while the city says its safety efforts include a Safe Streets plan and a Coffee Road project with new signs, striping, bike lanes and pedestrian improvements, expected to be completed by year’s end.
