Veterans Memorial Dedications Planned in New York, Indiana

Communities in Flower Hill, New York, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, are planning new veterans memorial dedications in November 2026. Flower Hill’s America250 project will honor all local residents who served, with a park and memorial named for late World War II Purple Heart recipient Desmond Gallagher. Fort Wayne will dedicate The Spire: Wounded Veterans Memorial on Nov. 11 in memory of former Mayor Tom Henry and his wife Cindy, as part of a broader neighborhood infrastructure project. Separately, 87 Eastern Iowa veterans traveled to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials, including Vietnam veteran Joe Latham Jr., who reflected on friends killed in the war. In Raleigh, veterans’ organizations are organizing a community barbecue to recognize veterans and their families and encourage fellowship.
