Veterans take flight in honor events across regions

Veterans are being honored through aviation experiences and trips that connect them with military history. More than 100 veterans from North Dakota and Minnesota are set to travel to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials, including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, with volunteers accompanying them. In Chattanooga and Tallahassee, Dream Flights gave veterans living in care communities free rides in restored World War II-era Stearman biplanes, offering some a rare return to the cockpit and others their first flight. Organizers described the flights as a way to recognize veterans’ service, celebrate their stories and create joyful new memories.
