Five Missing Women Linked to Filmmaker R.C. Horsch Home
A traffic stop of Eugene Horsch led police to his late father’s Olney house, where digital files tied the property to five missing women.

A park ranger walking the 600 block of Market Street near Independence National Historical Park around 8 p.m. on June 19, 2026, stopped at a black BMW parked where it did not belong. Inside were 44-year-old Eugene Horsch and a woman. When the ranger asked for identification, the woman handed over a card carrying the name of Blair Tonzelli, missing since 2023.
The search of the car produced a switchblade, two guns, drug paraphernalia, a cattle prod, a collapsible baton, narcotics, and a forged DEA credential bearing Horsch’s photograph. He had never worked for the agency. Horsch was arrested on firearms, drug, and document charges. That stop opened the door to a house on Chew Avenue in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood, a property he owned and that had been home to his father, Raymond “R.C.” Horsch, an adult filmmaker whose work included violent fetish themes. R.C. Horsch died in 2025 at 82 and was never charged in connection with any disappearance.
Investigators searching the Olney house found hidden spaces, dangerous chemicals, a 55-gallon drum linked to hoses and piping, a small marijuana grow operation, and 120 pieces of ballistic evidence. They also recovered five urns believed to hold human remains. Police said one appeared to contain R.C. Horsch’s ashes, another his sister’s, and a third a friend’s. The other two remained unidentified. No human remains, DNA, or bodies have been confirmed at the property.
More than one million digital images and videos came out of the house. That cache now sits at the center of an investigation that has linked the address to at least five missing women. Gabrielle Amarando disappeared in 2012. Amy McHale vanished in 2016 after leaving her daughter a voicemail saying she was at the Chew Avenue house with R.C. Horsch; the two had married in the 1990s, divorced, and stayed in contact. Maribel Fresses and Nicole Fusaro both went missing in 2018. Blair Tonzelli disappeared in 2023. Metadata dates some of the recovered files to 2017. Images from that year show Amarando and Fresses. Police say they believe they know the identities of four of five women who appear injured or lifeless in the material; a sixth woman estimated at about 25 and a seventh identified only as Jane Doe, believed to be in her 20s, also appear. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office reviewed images of three women and advised that if the files are authentic and unaltered, the women depicted appear deceased.
In one 2017 video, R.C. Horsch and a woman are naked. He handcuffs her to a bed. “He puts a zip tie around her neck, and she becomes unconscious on that video. Appeared to be lifeless at that time, but it’s just appearing that way. I have to caution you, and emphasize, we never recovered a body here,” Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore told reporters at a September 16, 2026, press conference. “We still need to find evidence to corroborate what appears to have happened in this video.”
