JD Vance confronted by Iran war widower at town hall
Joey Amor questioned Vice President JD Vance about leadership failures after an Iranian drone killed his wife, Master Sgt. Nicole Amor, in the war's deadliest attack on U.S. forces.

Breaking Points posted the YouTube video "DEVASTATING: JD Vance CONFRONTED By Iran War Widower". The channel's description says Krystal and Saagar discuss a devastating JD Vance townhall where he is confronted by a husband who lost his wife during the Iran war.
Joey Amor during the Q&A portion of that town hall and confronted the vice president about what he called fundamental failures. CBS News identified the event as "Things That Matter: A Town Hall With Vice President JD Vance," hosted by Tony Dokoupil in Michigan and aired Saturday evening. Amor is the husband of Master Sgt. Nicole Amor.
"Though the Iranian drone was the weapon that killed my wife, there were a lot of mistakes and a lot of fundamental failures that led up to that," Amor said, according to CBS News. He added that "my wife has told me things before she passed." He continued: "There's a failure in the leadership. And I want to know how this administration is gonna start holding those leaders accountable for the actions and the deaths of the soldiers that we honor and that we love."
Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, served in the U.S. Army Reserve. An Iranian drone attack killed her and five others at an outpost at Kuwait's Port of Shuaiba on March 1. It remains the deadliest attack on U.S. forces during the Iran war. The strike came one day after the United States began striking Iran.
Vance called Nicole Amor "a precious human being who served her country honorably." He said "I want to know about" the claimed failures. "Because if there were failures, and I don't doubt there were, I just … literally the first time I've heard of this is this conversation, and I want to fix that stuff. I do not want this stuff to happen," Vance told Amor, per CBS News. He added that "you live in a bit of a bubble" and "sometimes information doesn't filter up to me."
CBS News has reported concerns the facility wasn't adequately fortified and lacked drone shoot-down capability. The same reporting said the Army chose not to rebase troops further from Iran and ignored a request to bulk up medical support. The Associated Press reported soldiers said the Pentagon did not take Iranian threats to the Kuwait port seriously enough.
