Elderly Texas Man Shoots Intruder After His Front Door Gets Kicked In

Breaking down the front door of an elderly man’s house in Texas is a very bad decision. According to Houston police, a stranger allegedly broke into the home of an elderly man in Montrose around 1 p.m. in broad daylight. The homeowner reportedly told him to stop and leave. Repeatedly. When that did not happen, the homeowner eventually retrieved a .38-caliber handgun and shot the intruder. That detail matters. “Eventually retrieved” means this intruder had multiple off-ramps. Every warning was an off-ramp. Every second the homeowner spent going to get that revolver was another chance to leave. But he did not. And when you are talking about an elderly man facing someone strong enough and reckless enough to break down a front door, nobody is winning that fight with a strongly worded letter.
