The WNBA’s Biggest CRASHOUT…

Sophie Cunningham has become one of the WNBA’s biggest on-court instigators and one of the Indiana Fever’s most recognizable enforcers. One of her most viral moments came against the Connecticut Sun in June 2025, when Cunningham delivered a hard foul on Jacy Sheldon late in the game after an earlier incident in which Sheldon poked Caitlin Clark in the eye; Cunningham was assessed a Flagrant 2, ejected and later fined by the WNBA. The drama has continued with technical fouls, heated exchanges and confrontations, including a 2026 matchup against her former Phoenix Mercury teammates where Cunningham received her third technical of the season during a confrontation involving Caitlin Clark and DeWanna Bonner. Now Cunningham is at the center of another massive WNBA controversy after DiJonai Carrington was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul on Cunningham during an August 8, 2026 game against the Fever after making contact with Cunningham’s head and jaw on a drive. Cunningham immediately confronted Carrington before teammates separated them, and the situation exploded online afterward when Carrington posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE” while tagging the Indiana Fever, later saying people had misinterpreted what she meant. Cunningham rejected the suggestion that race influenced the call and pointed to her own previous ejection for a hard foul. Whether fans see Sophie Cunningham as an enforcer, agitator, villain or simply an ultra-competitive player, she has repeatedly found herself in the middle of the WNBA’s most heated moments. With Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever, DiJonai Carrington and the league’s increasingly physical rivalries generating national attention, Cunningham’s fearless, confrontational style has made her one of the most talked-about personalities in women’s basketball and a player opponents know is never going to back down.
