USC TE Mark Bowman hurdles defender, breaks tackles on 70-yard catch
Freshman tight end Mark Bowman hurdled an Ohio State defender and broke tackles on a 70-yard catch that set up the touchdown in USC's 30-18 upset.

Bleacher Report posted a YouTube clip titled "USC TE Mark Bowman went BEAST MODE". The channel's description says the video shows USC tight end Mark Bowman hurdling a defender and breaking multiple tackles on a 70-yard reception.
NBC Sports carried a story on Oct. 31 at 9:59 p.m. under a headline stating that Bowman's catch and hurdle leads to a USC touchdown. The network reported that freshman tight end Mark Bowman hurdles an Ohio State defender and that the play leads to running back King Miller punching the ball into the end zone.
USA Today's Andrés Soto filed the same night at 11:04 p.m. ET. Soto wrote that No. 25 USC led No. 2 Ohio State 27-9 midway through the third quarter of their Week 9 matchup at the Coliseum when Bowman, a Mater Dei High School product who had missed the previous three games, entered the sequence. Quarterback Jayden Maiava found Bowman wide open just outside the right hashmark, according to the USA Today account. Three Buckeyes closed in. Soto reported that Bowman cleared Ohio State safety Jaylen McClain with a hurdle, then trucked through two more defenders and reached the 3-yard line before being pushed out of bounds for the 70-yard gain. King Miller scored on the ensuing play, the USA Today story says.
A Big Blue View poster writing as Fast-Eddie offered a separate account and called the sequence quite possibly the offensive play of the year in college football. "If you didn't see this play yet you need to. Freshman TE Mark Bowman from USC made a 70 yard catch and run against #2 ranked Ohio State that was incredible. First a leaping catch, then as begins to head downfield he hurdles completely over an OSU defender, and if that wasn't enough he bowled over two more on the way to the end zone. He was pushed out of bounds on the 1 yard line, but damn what a play," Fast-Eddie wrote. The poster stated he roots for Notre Dame, not USC, and that he saw the game live. "USC upset Ohio State 30-18 as this amazing catch and run helped seal the upset," the post continues.
The published accounts disagree on the final spot. USA Today places Bowman out of bounds at the 3-yard line. Fast-Eddie places him at the 1. Both describe the hurdle and the additional broken tackles after the catch. Bleacher Report's YouTube description names neither the defenders nor the yard line. It states only that Bowman hurdles a defender and breaks multiple tackles on the 70-yard reception.
