Virginia Allows Dyed Diesel on Roads to Ease Farmer Costs
The Trump administration has suspended penalties through the end of 2026 for using tax-exempt dyed diesel on public roads, but Oregon officials warn the move does not erase federal tax liability or state fuel taxes. Virginia has separately authorized temporary on-road use of dyed diesel through Dec. 31 to ease high fuel costs for farmers, loggers and other businesses; the state says users will still need to remit state diesel taxes, with the DMV expected to explain how. Farmers and industry groups say the measure could help reduce operating costs and keep goods moving, although the tax obligations limit the potential savings.
