Voters Face Midterm Registration, Ballot Deadlines Across States
Election officials are urging voters to verify their registration and meet upcoming deadlines for the Nov. 3 general elections. U.S. citizens living abroad, including an estimated 13,781 Americans in Kenya, should submit the Federal Postcard Application early to register and request absentee ballots, while following the requirements of their voting state. Registration deadlines are Oct. 4 in South Carolina and Oct. 5 in Georgia and Florida; Georgia’s absentee-ballot application deadline is Oct. 23, and Florida’s is Oct. 22. Nevada offers same-day registration through Election Day, with early voting scheduled for Oct. 17–30 and mailed ballots generally due to county officials by 5 p.m. Nov. 7 if postmarked by Election Day. Florida’s mandatory early-voting period runs Oct. 24–31, and military and overseas voters in Georgia and Florida face earlier ballot-mailing timelines.
