Wall Street Firms Tie Bonuses to AI Skills

Nearly one in four finance firms tie raises, bonuses, or promotions to employees' AI proficiency, a Selby Jennings survey of 500 finance executives showed, according to Reuters reporting dated Oct 14, 2026. Thirty percent of firms require employees to disclose AI tool use in formal performance reviews. Forty-two percent of respondents have introduced formal criteria to evaluate employees' AI skills, and 30 percent have created dedicated teams or roles to track whether AI investments are delivering results. Dylan Gomez, executive director at Selby Jennings, told Reuters: "Companies are no longer just seeing if their employees are using AI tools but are also monitoring its impact on output and contribution to business results." Gomez added: "While currently there is no established formula on how much compensation is getting tied to AI usage and performance, we expect this to become more defined by next year." The findings point to a broader shift on Wall Street as firms seek tangible returns from their investment in the technology.
