Walla Walla Launches Valleywide Police Activity Map

Walla Walla police have launched Citizen Connect, an interactive public map showing calls for service and cases handled by law enforcement agencies across the valley. Users can filter activity by agency, date, location, incident type and case category, and the map is updated every three hours. Police say some calls and details will be withheld for privacy, safety and investigative reasons, so the map is not a real-time or complete account of activity. The launch comes as local agencies move to encrypt police dispatch communications, a change that has raised concerns about public access; police say dispatch audio will remain available through public-records requests and the map will provide another way to follow activity.
