Warriors’ Porziņģis Remains Out Indefinitely
Kristaps Porziņģis remains out indefinitely for the Golden State Warriors after missing training camp and the first five preseason games with an undisclosed health issue. He returned to the practice facility Tuesday for meetings with general manager Mike Dunleavy and Dr. Rick Celebrini. The team said Wednesday he can be around teammates but gave no timeline, saying any update on practice or playing status will come when available and appropriate. Porziņģis posted Wednesday that he is working with doctors and experts, feels better and better, and must stay patient. He called hard-to-pinpoint health problems frustrating on top of career injuries, thanked supporters, and told online commenters he does not have HIV or AIDS. He has a prior POTS diagnosis; reports state it is unclear if that is tied to the current matter. In March, Steve Kerr called a medical absence mysterious. CONTESTED: Rated outlets do not disagree on the indefinite absence, the Tuesday meetings, or the wording of his post; no right-rated coverage is in the set. He was traded from Atlanta at the February deadline, played 15 games for Golden State last season at 16.1 points per game, and signed a two-year, $40 million extension in late June. The opener is Oct. 21 at the Lakers, with Butler and Moody also sidelined. No return date is set.
