Wausau council rules panel to review public comment disputes
Government bodies are reviewing how public input and procedural rules are handled, though the efforts differ in scope. Wausau’s City Council Rules Review Committee is set to examine its standing rules after disputes over public-comment responses and motions to end debate; no specific revisions have yet been proposed. At the federal level, the FCC is seeking input on proposed changes to Telephone Consumer Protection Act revocation rules, including a seven-business-day compliance deadline and a “revoke all” option. Separately, the Administrative Conference of the United States is soliciting public experiences and information about how agencies receive, assess and respond to comments in rulemakings, a process shaped by authority Congress delegates to agencies and by the Administrative Procedure Act.
