Five Earthquakes Recorded Across California, Nevada

Five preliminary earthquakes measuring magnitude 2.1 to 2.9 were reported across California and western Nevada over the weekend and Monday. The largest was a magnitude 2.9 quake near Cobb in Lake County on Saturday, followed by magnitude 2.5 events near Woodside, Silver Springs and Willits, while a magnitude 2.1 tremor occurred east of Julian. The quakes were shallow, ranging from 1 to 8 miles deep, and officials reported no damage or injuries. Recent seismic activity included additional magnitude 2.5-or-greater tremors near Woodside, Silver Springs, Willits and Cobb. Residents who felt the shaking were encouraged to submit reports to the U.S. Geological Survey, which advises people to drop, cover and hold on during an earthquake.
