Water Main Breaks Disrupt Service, Traffic Across Cities
Water-main and water-line breaks in several communities have disrupted service or traffic as crews make repairs. In Milledgeville, Georgia, residents on Tanglewood Road and Red Bud Lane faced low or no water pressure, and a Bridgewater, New Jersey, break may have affected nearby neighborhoods. In Belchertown, Massachusetts, customers on Federal Street between Route 9 and the Daigle Well were warned of very low or no pressure from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with brown water possible after service returned; a break in southeast Oklahoma City flooded part of a street, though its repair timeline and customer impact were unknown. Savannah repairs were completed, but roadwork required closures on Hopkins and 48th streets through Oct. 12, while a separate Bloomfield break was expected to cause traffic delays; reports from Durham and North Caldwell also warned of traffic impacts or delays. Shreveport crews responded to seven water-line breaks in one day, including one on Arthur Avenue, and said shifting ground conditions after dry weather and rain could stress underground pipes, though the cause of any specific break was unknown.
