High-Wind Warnings and Watches Issued in Southern California
The National Weather Service has issued high-wind warnings for parts of Southern California, including the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills, San Gorgonio Pass, and mountains in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, with conditions expected to begin Thursday morning and last into Friday, Saturday, or Sunday depending on the area. Watches remain in effect for other inland and mountain areas, including parts of the Los Angeles region and valleys in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Northeast to east winds of 25–40 mph and gusts of 50–65 mph are forecast, with localized gusts near 70 mph around San Gorgonio Pass; the strongest winds are generally expected Friday. Officials warn of downed trees and power lines, possible widespread outages, and hazardous travel, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and urge residents to secure loose items and prepare for outages.
