Storms Cause Outages in San Antonio, Kansas City
Severe storms brought high winds and widespread power outages to San Antonio and the Kansas City area. In San Antonio, gusts reached 53 mph, leaving about 3,300 CPS Energy customers without power; the utility warned that high winds could slow repairs by preventing crews from using bucket trucks. In the Kansas City metro, heavy rain, lightning and winds gusting as high as 75 mph brought down trees and power lines, and Evergy’s outage count rose above 44,000 Tuesday night. A tornado warning was issued for Clay County, but no tornado was confirmed. By Wednesday morning, about 9,340 customers remained without power, mostly in the Northland.
