Roadwork, Crashes Snarl Bay Area, San Antonio Traffic
Bay Area motorists faced significant delays from congestion, crashes and construction, including a weekend repaving closure on Highway 101 near San Francisco’s Hospital Curve that diverted traffic onto city streets. Caltrans said the round-the-clock work was progressing and warned of a separate full westbound I-80 closure in San Francisco on the weekend of Oct. 23; drivers were urged to use alternate routes or public transit. Tuesday’s commute also brought a reported 45-minute delay near the MacArthur Maze, heavy traffic on Highway 101 from Petaluma through Marin County, and lane restrictions for roadwork. Separately, a major crash on northbound I-35 near Schertz, Texas, blocked two lanes and caused delays of up to an hour, with authorities advising drivers to take another route. Bay Area events, including sports, concerts and festivals, were also expected to add to weekend traffic.
