Storm Threats Span U.S. and Oman
Severe-weather alerts and forecasts across parts of the United States and Oman warn of thunderstorms, hail, strong winds and possible flooding. In New Mexico, a watch covering Albuquerque, Santa Fe and surrounding counties remains in effect through Thursday evening, with winds exceeding 70 mph and hail up to 1.5 inches possible; a tornado watch also covers western New Mexico. Arizona faces a flash-flood watch in Pinal, Graham and Greenlee counties and a severe-thunderstorm watch through late morning. A storm near Yosemite brought lightning, heavy rain, gusts up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail. In Oman, forecasts for the Al Hajar Mountains warn of thunderstorms, hail, strong downdrafts and dangerous water flows in wadis, prompting advice to watch for sudden conditions and avoid flood-prone routes.
